    DKiS - award doc.

    Hi,

Could anyone tell me if this award doc has good characteristics?

    Thanks in advance.

Nope, it's bad. For a start a full colonel doesn't belong to the stab of a battalion, he commands a regiment at the least. Secondly, the term 'infanterie regiment' was long out of use by May '44, it should be Grenadier Regiment. Thirdly, it's the wrong type of decoration for an infantry colonel. Fourth, whilst the name Bassewitz does appear in the rank lists it was von Bassewitz, I find no record of a Paul nor of anyone by that name gaining a DKiS. finally, the Heer formal DKiS shouldn't have the recipient details typed in with a regular typewriter.

Now there's an answer with some real knowledge and experience behind it.

        Thanks, Simon
