Uniform Identification Cards

I got these 2 cards, about 6"x8", they are black and white ink drawings showing German uniforms. I've seen similar ones in books, has anybody seen them like this on cardboard? What were they used for? thanks Troy

Friedrich Schirmer published a lot of literature dealing with military uniforms of all ages. He also worked with tin soldiers and their uniforms.
