Hans-Joachim Marseille signature photo on e-stand

As this is apparently a good price for this individual's signature, (please keep in mind that I have never collectected signatures and know nothing about values, rarity, etc. but am wanting to learn), what creates the value? Obviously there must be very few signatures and high demand. Did he survive the war and sign an post 1945 pics or are the only ones available pre 1945?

That would certainly limit the number of signed photographs and create a high value. He has both a high award and a very limited time during which he would be autographing photos. When did he win the Brilliants?

Marseille was a superb pilot, and his signature is exceptionally rare. A super peice! Had he not been killed bailing out of his aircraft, he probably would have went on to be the top scoring Luftwaffe ace of the war. I think he had 151 kills, all against skilled Allied pilots, not the Russian masses. He was a superb marksman, waiting to take his shots at around 100 meters from another aircraft. I have the German movie of him "Die Sterne von Afrika".

I have to agree, he actually may have been the "best". Signatures are rare and if I recall he has the record with most kills in one day...

Also as Willi mention none of those were Russian. He struck his head on the tail while bailing out. I seen pics of the memorial in North Africa when my friend Heinz Gonnerman visted in the 80's, himself a FJ DAK vet...anyone have a pic of the memorial to post?

Wow. That's pretty impressive. What a sad note that he was killed only 27 days after receiving the Brilliants. That's not even enough time to bask in the glory.
