    coastal artillery soldbuch

    Hello all

I have just bought a soldbuch of a coastal artillery member, inside there is the mention "regiment Helgoland" dated 11.5.1945, this man served in the 4.komp.Mar.Flak abt 242.

Can someone help me concerning this mention, were there a resistance pocket on the Helgoland island ?

    thanks in advance

    best regards

    eric

          Hi Oldenburg,

All I can say about it is that M.Fla.A. 242 together with M.A.A. 122 were based at Helgoland, so called stationed under Abschnitt Helgoland - that itself was stationed under Seeverteidigung Elbe Weser; Ottendorf bei Cuxhaven mit den Abschnitten: Cuxhaven, Brunsbüttel, Wesermunde und Helgoland.

Or to say: Abschnitt Helgoland, Einheiten M.Fla.A 242 and M.A.A. 122, based at Helgoland.

The two units were able to sit out their wartime period without too much trouble on Helgoland.
No special units or pockets !!!

          Hope this helps a little.

PS looks like the eagle and the swas is cut out of the stamp, 11/5/45 is just after the war, maybe the unit was after that period called regiment Helgoland.

I would say as Eric JB mentioned that because this is a post war entry it is his actual PoW unit....based in Helgoland.
