Does anyone have a picture of Heinrici?

    Hi,

Does anyone by chance have a good picture of Generaloberst Gotthard Heinrici showing his awards?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

I`m not sure this is the correct Gen. Heinrici, and if so the Medal Bar will be hard to read. I send you a larger pic if it is the right man.

      Another Heinrici PC

Perhaps someone can translate the back and Identify the picture.

I believe it is signed indicated by the arrow on right.

      Thanks

Yes, that's him. Famous for his skills as a master of defensive warfare in World War Two, he was a also a highly decorated veteran of World War One. That third ribbon - the half-black, half-yellow one - is for an extremely rare decoration, the "Duke Carl Eduard Medal 2nd Class with Crown and Swords and Date", also called the "Oval Silver Duke Carl Eduard Medal with Crown and Sword Clasp". It was awarded only 344 times. He also had a pinback cross, the Carl Eduard War Cross, which would be worn below or next to his Iron Cross 1st Class, which was awarded only 97 times. I would appreciate a bigger picture and, if it's OK with you, I would like to use it when I update my page for the decorations of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, since he's one of the more famous recipients of that state's awards.

        Thanks,
        Dave

Here are the two awards, by the way:

And one day after it was taken, he became commander of Division Nr. 443, a unit manning the Westwall. His full name was Dr. rer. pol. Waldemar Henrici and his rank at the time was Generalmajor der Reserve und Generalarbeitsführer (R.A.D.).

              Hi Dave!

Thanks very much for the info on Henrici - I hadn't made the connection because it had slipped passed me that an RAD leader was also a Wehrmacht General (are there any other examples to your knowledge?), but now I can see the resemblance. Very interesting.

              Regards,

              VJK

Is this Gotthard? Different bar but the face looks similar?

It's been 10 years since you posted but maybe this helps now... here is a close-up of his ribbon bar in color from my collection...
