Opinions needed on Waffenfarbe colour

I'm trying to figure out to which type of unit this Hauptmann belongs (note that a pip is missing on his right shoulder board). Definitely not white for infantry, nor black for pioneer. I guess red for artillery and panzerjäger can be ruled out. It's almost the same shade as his uniform, so I reckon it might be meadow green of the panzergrenadiers. What colour did Kradschützen wear in 1942?

Anyone else got an opinion or expert analysis?
