Unknown LW Gen. Leutn. WW1 Vet

Does anyone know who this Luftwaffe Generalleutnant is? The officer in the front also has some interesting medals. Would appreciate all opinions. Thanks!

That's GenMj Otto Kühne. He and Feyerband looked very much alike far away but Kühne was in the Navy. Looks like he was wearing the WW1 U-boat badge even though I have not seen confirmation that he had one.

    Cheers

It looks more like he is wearing the Naval Zep commerative badge than a U-Boat Badge. The two do look like they could be brothers! Interesting that he would wear both WW1 & 2 Observers badges.

That was on my mind too. But it was definitely Otto Kühne.

          Both badges

Pflugbeil wearing both badges ... fairly common.

Thank you very much - I would never have found that out without your expertise! Now I could even get some more info on him: http://www.scheer-halle.de/pool/pers/kuehne_otto.htm

                wow!

well, that's the rarest photo posted here in a month.
The navy Zepp. badges are rarer than platinum.
Casualty rates were enormous (not surprising given how flamable the Zepps were).
The imperial medal is however, even rarer-and may even be a 'household" post war award (I doubt it though). The award list of these is being compiled as I type deep in the woods of Massachusetts.
