Interesting subject. It reminded me of a photo in my collection of a trailer with pens containing rabbits. The pens are similar to the Dachau ones. I suppose in this case they were used for their skins as well as their meat.

Yeah we've heard how Himmler stuck his finger in all sorts of pies. SS porcelain is the best known example but but here's another! Rabbits...pretty wierd!

From what i understand, they used the rabbits fur not skin, so presumed shaved off the fur to make wool? Thats what it looks like from the pictures. So the rabbits i presume lived on.

Hi LDR This may be the case with the Dachau rabbits but why would the Wehrmacht modify trailers to carry rabbits around in Russia as in my photo? Cheers Larry
