    Personalakte (Allgemeine Akte)

    Hello,

I was hopeing someone could tell me the purpose of a personalakte (allgemeine Akte) file-I was able to get my hands on one for a RAD officer over the weekend-I have never seen such a complete grouping to any 1 man-besides haveing his ID books, birth cirtificate, photos,it contains 144 documents relateing to everything from his WW1 service -family history, letters from the mayor of his town, documents about his membership in the NSDAP and SA,includeing his party membership number and badge numbers, awards etc-feldposts-and ALOT of documents pertaining to his service as a RAD abteilung fuhrer-I was wondering who was responable for putting together that type of file? I will be posting alot of scans in the next few weeks as I need alot of help with translations.

    Hi Yancy,

I have about 5 Personalakte, LW, Heer and KM. It is my understanding that these were held by the Wehrbezirks or Wehrmeldeamt where the person was initially mustered and where his Wehrpaß was drawn out.
The staff of these offices would be responsible for the upkeep of his records.
Sometimes they come together with his Wehrstammbuch, Wehrpaß etc. or even his Soldbuch if he was discharged during the war.

Never seen a RAD one before though! I take it he served in the military as well?

      Hello Ian,

I too have never seen one for a RAD man before, and the fact that he was a officer and a abteilung fuhrer made it al the more appealing to me!!Ive talked to a few people that have been collecting for a long time and they to had never seen one for a RAD man,I am very pleased with that find!!he was never in the military in WW2 (he was in Inf rgt 47 in WW1) he was in the NSDAP from 1933 on then in the SA.In 1938 he went into the RAD were he served as abteilung fuhrer for 4 years before being discharged. It came with his RAD dienstausweis and personenausweis.thanks for the info, I was wondering who would have kept such a file, youve been very helpfull as allways!!
