    June 5 1944, German postcard...

Went to the market this weekend and came back with this interesting peace of paper bought from a military seller.

I got the enveloppe and the postcard.

Believe the picture on the card is maybe the son of the soldier.

It would be very interesting if someone is able to translate it !!!

    Here are the pictures!

Just a quick note concerning the Carl Werner published postcard. Werner published all manner of themes on postcards, military, woman, children, etc. I possess this same card in my collection.

The card depicts a child who is no relation to the soldier to whom the card was sent. This postcard was used to send a message to the soldier from his at home correspondent.

        Mein lieber Bub,

This is the German text as can I read it.

I made an auto-translation on internet and there's the translation.

I know it's not perfect but...we can have an Idea about the message in.

            "Munich, 5th June, 1944

            My dear boy,

still I have received no sign of life from you and am very worried, therefore. The day after tomorrow these are eight weeks that you are away. How have you settled down? The first days are very bitter, I know this best of all. With a small Bu ... I must you ..., because.... You... You, Heinzel before me begins with my work, I write these lines, then I have more joy in all. I love you so endlessly"

I also found with the feldpostnummer that the soldier was part of the "Stab II u. 5.-8. Kompanie/Grenadier-Regiment "

              Simon,
your auto-translation via internet is not bad. I did not have time enough to do the translation when I wrote down the German text but I am content with "your" translation. it's OK.
I regret that I could not identify some of the words written in Sütterlin.
