AV64409/ It rests on its head.
With a well-timed attack by our Luftwaffe on a Soviet airfield a Russian fighter attempted to defend it by attempting a quick start, but few of them succeeded. Hardly any made it into the air. As bombs exploded and shells were fired, the aircraft came to a rest on its head.

      954/ Literally “killed”
Soviet fighter aircraft were only able to raise a limited defense during the quick surprise German attack. They were hit initially with bombs and on board weapons during the operations!

A frame with the Soviet crown which once stood at the village entrance is now overturned in the middle of a jumbled mess of equipment which has been left behind. The German advance to the Bug was so quick the service crew was not able to take along everything.
