2739/ The SA fallen at München’s Rathaus Hall.
At München’s Rathouse Hall in the presence of numerous representatives of the SA Führerkorps, a memorial ceremony took place in a field of SA honor guards. Our picture shows SA-Obergruppenführer Juttner at a memorial address.

          Hello TG:
Nice SA unit multi-patch flag photo. Flag has honor name of
a National Socialist shot dead on the 9th of November 1923, one
Felix Allfarth, a merchant. "L" on top patch is the super rare SA Leib
          regiment
Munich designation, such flags were usually on display in
the NSDAP HQ Brown House, until burned up by the USAAF 8th AAF.

(Notice the flamethrowers lying on the ground)

The flamethrowers and the sacks around their shoulders indicate that these are combat engineers (Sturmpioniere). The sacks are for holding multiple handgrenades, used along with the flamethrowers for assaulting fortified positions. Who is the Feldmarschall at left, von Rundstedt?

Zschäckel we've discussed a few weeks ago in this thread. Where would (Das) Reich be, that's 42 km from Moscow? My first thought was Istra, but looking at a map in Weidinger's Das Reich III, it appears that Istra was about 32 km. On the other hand, Mohaisk is about 75 km (another 40 or so west southwest of Istra). Of course, it could be either or neither of these towns, but it is likely somewhere in their vicinity.

The Das Reich divisional symbol looks a lot like a Wolfsangel wolf rune, but in fact, was the runic letters "SS" in stylized form, based on a sketch division commander Paul Hausser prepared.

51117/ Soviet children experience their first Christmas celebration.
German soldiers light the candles of a Christmas tree in a Soviet farmers house on Christmas evening. The children of the village, whom our soldiers got to know well as they daily fetched their afternoon meal in the field kitchen, seem to be astonished. This is the first Christmas tree lit by candles the have seen in their lives.
