Missing Items--US Mail System

I just received some nice panzer photos today and I hope to post a few in couple of weeks. These pictures were sent to me from Germany on 17 April.
I received them on 25 June! As you can imagine this can cause some serious
issues! The envelope is marked "US Customs Released-- NY ISC JFK--4701"
I have never had an issue like this before. They were in a padded envelope
7 x 4.5 inches. Thats over a 2 month wait

Just thought fellow collectors ought to be aware.

I had a similar wait on a tunic from Germany, and when I got it the package had been opened several times and taped back with duct tape.

Eric, you are not alone: I win on Ebay 117 pictures taken in Italy during WW2 from a G.I. . The guy send with same system on October 18, 2007 from USA...and the pictures arrived in Italy on February 20, 2008 .
But, anyway, important is that arrived!

I had similar expiriences serveral times with letters from Germany to the USA.

Some weeks ago there was a notice in the newspaper about enforced custom controls at the US Border: e.g. for all items now sender and receiver must be identified in advance by the freight forwarding company. I also heard some strange stories about these checks. For me it seems this is the reason for these delays.
