    Photo Albums

Hi Guys. A colleague of mine has just shown me two photo albums that his wife has just brought back from Steyrreg, in the Linz area, Austria. These have been in a cellar for over Sixty years and belonged to her Grandfather's cousin , Franz Leithgob, who was killed in Russia. The two albums, approx 340 small pictures, include pictures of the invasion of France and Russia, training in Austria, photo's of comrades, a few of graves, lots of bomb damage, and many horse drawn transport pictures. My colleague is curious to know what the value of these might be? Can any body please tell me anything about the rank of Franz Leithgob from the attached photo. Many thanks David.

The rank at the time his portrait was taken appears to be Unteroffizier, which is a noncom. I would estimate the pair of albums in the $4-500 range.

I would estimate around $400, but I would not go as high as $500. From the photos I see, there is really nothing in the content of these pics to push the value past $200 per album.

          Best,

          Chris
