to take such gross advantage of kind and lonely old warriors; well it isn't just the physical items that are gone, is it - but trust. and after the thieves I'm sure pretended to be interested in "history." infuriating indeed. arschloecher!

these thieves are in the same league as grave robbers - and for that matter collectors who don't care what "ground dug" too often really means these day...

All rather disgusting , it leaves a very bad taste - theft from an elderly man and a veteran of 39-45 - as i posted on another forum - the human race does thrown up some prime specimens who will never fail to disappoint.

I do hope that Herr Barkmann's albums will be returned to him , has been posted it would be the ultimate in disrespect if the "new owners" dismembered them for "private sale" - it would be like killing part of the man himself.
When you steal a man's memories you steal part of his soul , these individuals are heartless curs.

The whole action would have taken less than 30 secs.

He must have viseted him before, so he knew where the albums were.
I can't stress the importance of a safe.

          .

I viewed the album cover in that link. I will remember it and if I see it somewhere, I will...... well you get the point!

            Barkmann

This makes me sick. Ernst is such a generous man always dedicating some of his time to us collectors, only to be later betrayed and robbed.

I urge the moderator to print out and send to herr barkmann all contributions to this fine, necessary thread.

herr barkmann should be informed that if the thieves are caught out, things are apt to go very badly for them.

                false collectors

I have heard stories from collectors in the Munich area of a case where a highly decorated soldier "loaned" his documents to a collector and received very high quality copies back (the person was a trained printer). At least this was discovered later and apparently the person was confronted with this (the same person was also responsible for the loss and/or theft of a DKig at a military show). Not everyone is what they claim to be and it is unfortunate that these black sheep still show up on occasion.

                  Complete dogs.......
I cannot see the pleasure in such ownership, you could not display on
forums, shows or amongst collector friends.

You would have to hide it till you die, then your family gets told you
are a receiver of stolen goods.

As someone said, its not the cash value, but the memories evoked for
herr barkmann of comrades long since dead and key events in his life.

Could also have turned to tragedy if herr barkmann had disturbed them
in the act, I hope what they have gives them nothing but bad luck...

                  Cheers,
                  John.

This is disgusting I really hope that by informing the collectors world
the items will be found again and returned to the family.

It makes me sad that these things are happening..

Best wishes to the Barkmann family.

                      BTT

Everyone should know about this and keep it fresh in their memory.

Hopefully Ernst's album will one day be returned to him, and then before it is too late.

                      Andrew

Just curious, was the lowlife who stole those albums ever been caught?

Looks like they have not surfaced. (Sadly, and the poos man himself has since passed away).

When I saw this thread come back I had hoped something had happened, some news.

                                A real shame.

I don't understand how a collector can accept the hatred and lack of respect they have, even in silent anonymity. No respect from the man they have stolen from that they must desire or else why steal the album. And to late to make amends.
