Panzer skulls on Artillery boards

Anybody ever seen this before? Artillery boards with panzer skulls worn on them. Was this a practice done by a particular unit or something to that effect?

I've posted the boards on the uniforms thread but nobody has really made any mention of having seen this done before. Any background information or similar photos would be appreciated.

Once I saw it on a shoulder board of a soldier from Pz.Jg.Abt.611 (or possibly s.Pz.Abt.655 - a descendant unit). Unfortunately I have no explanation, just wanted to ask the same question...

Panzer skulls

Hi Akira, thanks for the information. Hopefully someone will know more or have similar pictures. Comments on the uniform thread suggest that stug units may have done this after they were made to remove the skulls from their tabs.
