"H" stands for Heeres. Until 1942, all Nahaufklärungsstaffeln carried either the (H) of (Pz) suffix to distinguish them from the Fernaufklärungsstaffeln.

"Pz" means the Staffel was attached to either a Panzerkorps or a Panzerdivision.

All Nahaufklärungsstaffel came under the overall tactical control of the General der Luftwaffe beim Oberbefehlshaber des Heeres. The close reconnaissance squadrons provided reconnaissance support directly to the Heer (the German Army). They were Luftwaffe personnel to be sure, and came under the Luftwaffe administratively, for supply and for discipline, but they (the Nahaufklärungsstaffeln) took their tactical day-to-day orders from the Heer.

General der Luftwaffe beim Oberbefehlshaber des Heeres (L.In. 1)
(General of the Air Force Attached to the Commander-in-Chief of the Army (AF Inspectorate 1))
                (FpN: L 05358)

                General
                Gen.d.Flieger Rudolf Bogatsch (1 Feb 39 - 16 May 42)

                History
Established 1 February 1939 and reported to Reichsmarschall Göring personally. The general and his staff coordinated the operational employment of all Luftwaffe tactical reconnaissance aircraft and units with the German Army, which was the sole user of their services. Disbanded on or about 14 April 1942 and all assets combined with the Inspekteur der Aufklärungsflieger to form General der Aufklärungsflieger und General der Luftwaffe beim OKH.

No web. Years and years and years and YEARS of studying books, people, reports, archives, personal histories, etc., are the only way to achieve such knowledge. What is out on the WWW is but a drop in the ocean....

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.
