You are correct about the Germans being uninvited guests.

What I was trying to say was that in a lot of my photos the villagers and occupiers seem to be friendly towards one another.

Some German soldiers had little emnity towards the occupied peoples whilst others believed that these people were inferior. Their photos show their feelings on this subject.

Hi Larry, that is true and of course I did not mean to offend you by quoting your statement, nor did I want to blow up this thread by presenting the other side of the medal, so let's try to revive it. Here's one more, two old Dutch farmers and a group of Panzerjäger on the 10th of May 1940, day of the invasion in Holland.

They are part of a section in the album that seems to have been taken in Czechoslovakia.


Looks like the whole village turned out to welcome the German troops.
