Legion Condor envelope?

Hello all,

Got this envelope in a postal lot I received.
Handwritten on the envelope is 'Spanienverband'.
So this envelope passed through hands which identificated it as Legion Condor mail.

Does anybody knows if the Condor mail went through Italy?
Because I am a bit puzzeled why the stamp and cancellation both are Italic and the envelope should be Condor related.

Hope someone can show a light on this!

Hi Martin,

In my oppinon the words "SPANIEN VERBAND 13" (very likely postwar) is a reference to the addressee's ship "Panzerschiff Deutschland", which took part in the German engagement in Spain. So maybe Panzerschiff Deutschland was part of Spanien Verband 13? Anyone else?

Yes, I also do think 'Spanien Verband 13' has been written on the envelope after the war, I just could not see a connection with the Italian cancellation.

But I think you hit the nail on the head, the addressee is Legion Condor related, not the sender.
How could I overlook?
