    Dietl and ?

    Hello all,
Does anyone recognise these officers? When and where were each pics taken? Any helps are appreciated.

All photos are i believe taken during the summer of 1941 whilst Dietl was commander of Gebirgskorps Norwegen. They're all taken on the Murmansk front. The only officer i can identify positively at the moment is number 8. It's Alfred Schulze-Hinrichs, here as flottilla commander of the 6 Zerstörer flotille.

      Hello Simon,

Thank you for the identification. As for the 1st picture, is there any chance it have been taken at later days?
This was a picture in an official photo album for Christmas 1943 of a Marinekriegsberichterkompanie, and I thought vaguely that this was around 1942-43.

No1 was ObstLt Max Schrank, later RKT and general. Here he was Kmdr I/GEBJgRgt 100/1 GEB Div. Dietl was Kmdr Norwegian GEB Corp.

There was a very often seen but blurry pic of Dietl, Schoerner, Schrank and a few others which I think was from the same occassion. You can see, as in your pic, Schrank wearing a bright cross next to his EKI. Looks like the Schwerin Mecklenberg Cross but Schrank was from Bayern and it was too bright to be the King Ludwig Cross

        Cheers

Pure speculation of course. No4 could be GenAdm Hermannn Boehm, as he was a small man and No6 could be VzAdm Eichel, a short and round man and senior shipyard director Dronheim.

          Cheers

I agree it's Schrank but it's not whilst he commanded I./GJR 100. The unit was never anywhere near either Norway or Finland. However, from the end of July 41 until Jan 42 he was in the Führer reserve, so he could well have been sent up to the Murmansk front for one reason or another.

As for the KM officers, they're more likely to be connected with the admiral der polarküste, the place i'd take a very rough guess at being Liinahamari

                Thank you for additional infomation.
Here is the enlargement of "7". Does his profile ring any bells?

P.S... I look forward to getting the info about the brand (liqueur?) of the bottle that he has.

Nr.7 is only a major by the looks of it and as you can see not GJ. Possibly marine artillery or heeres coastal artillery.

As for the drink. Google Schlichte.

If he is a staff of a noteless unit like the Küstenartillerie, identification seems to be impossible.
                    Thank you very much.
