Three other items came with these documents, post war camp "art"
I do not know if these were made by Dr. Sforzini.
The third item, the seller would not part with (yet?)

The first is a small piece of plexi-glass with small punch marks.
I read that plane parts were manufactured at Flossenburg, perhaps this material was originally made for cockpit instrument pannels.

At first I thought the plexi-glass image to be part of KZ Flossenburg damaged by bombing, until I found the following images

        FLOSSENBURG CASTLE TODAY.

View from the camp during the war.
The castle was visible from all over the camp.
Remember from the movie "The Odessa File"?

This last item, the seller would not part with.
              I don't blame him.
It is a cig. case, I guess symbolizing the SS going up in smoke?

Thanks Carlos, I am glad you found the the items and fotos of interest. Anti Jewish sentiment had been rampant in Europe long before the NSDAP came along. Poland of all places, carried out some of the worst of all pre WWII pograms against the Jews during the 1930's.

I wonder why Dr. Sforzini would seek out his camp records and remove them from the admintrative files. He must have been one of the very few that were not required to make the "death march" to Dachau. In April 1945, 22,000 inmates were forced to make the march, leaving only 1700 sick and dying at the camp "hospital" .

Sforzini was at the camp when Admiral Canaris, Hans Oster and Rev. Bonhoeffer among other's who were executed for their part in the July 20,1944 plot to kill Hitler. Just a few weeks later the camp was liberated by US troops.

That photograph of the three small boys with their swimming kit is so profoundly sad : they clearly would like to go swimming but are standing hesitantly at the gate, like little statues. Were they the forbidden Jews I wonder? What was the man saying to them? Was he turning them away from the pool on what may have been a hot, sunny day? Did he point to the sign 'Voor Joden Verboten'? Having been turned away their little hearts must have been so broken.

What kind of inhuman monsters could do this and be so cruel to little children?

                          David
