Very interesting topic gents I am following this with high interest, although I have no pictures to contribute
Millions of German soldiers were sent on leave to Paris, the nazi's wanted to send as many as possible under the slogan "Jeder einmal in Paris." Guided tours were compulsory and the man in civilian clothing you see on many pictures is the guide. Carefully picked out of course, a German already living in Paris before the war. It was forbidden for the soldiers to break ranks during the tour and eat something in a restaurant of choise. Local restaurants were confiscated and run by the DRK for this purpose, purchasing souvenirs was only allowed in designated shops.
