              Thanks for all that.
Now I just need to learn German to understand it all !
It does state on the certificate that he was 'deputy' Commander if the div. so I guess thats when he might have been filling in during the refit of the div. after stalingrad.
I found Haselhoff in my German order of battle 1944 book Lisyed as C.G.S General Government.
I dont suppose he bears much significance in the signature collecting sphere, but its nice to put a story behind the
              scribble.

Whats the chances of finding the name of the medical officer on the wound doc. ??

not deputy as in 2ic but as in stand in, he was then giving temporary leadership from the 1st May until the new permanent commander took over from 1st Sept.

look him up on the ABR site
                http://www.geocities.com/orion47.geo/

he made Generalmajor, looks like he fell foul of the system too.

Wow, brilliant site, will bookmark that one ! Even has a pic of the man...
I notice that he was retired on personal instructions of Himmler ! Guess that was when the Nazis were distrustfull of everyone..

The signature of the medical officer I read

                    Dr. Röttger (Dr. Roettger).

Still today there are some medical doctors named Dr. Röttger in Germany (try google)
