Thanks Mike.
I had a quick look on ww2daybyday and found a few different units for the crossed turkish swords, but dont have any idea which one? theres about 8 to choose from. All i know is that these vechicles were a part of a mechanised unit on the initial invasion of russia 1941.
Thanks.

Thats very interesting Jason. These images came from a collection found in a town called Halle in eastern germany. Halle is in Saxony and is a quick drive from Meissen. So this might make good sense. Also my girlfriend is from Leipzig, so iv actually visited all these great towns, including Meissen with its fantastic porcelen factory and Halle with its famous law collage :-)
Thanks Jason.
Ill be adding more images from this new collection this weekend.

Well we can place the photos, it looks like it's on what is today the Ukrainian\Polish border NW of Lvov (Lviv), Zamosc is on Poland, and Krystynopol had it's name changed in the 50s, Sokal is to the north of it.
You can have a go with the unit symbols yourself http://www.wwiidaybyday.com/
As you'll see several units used the crossed swords but you must bear in mind that there are many that remain unknown, particularly amongst the smaller non-division size units.Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

This symbol looks very similar to that of Panzerjäger-Abteilung 521. Here's a pic from one of my albums.

Jason, it can't be 521st (your picture is superb by the way!), it's different.
Ian, both crossed swords of Meissen and Jägermeister symbol are too widely used to make a quick decision. Here's one Jägermeister symbol on a PKW. You should try hard to examine all pictures from the same group and find an answer yourself. Simon has made informative suggestions.Attached FilesLast edited by Akira Takiguchi; 01-28-2008, 03:53 AM.
