Interesting pass photo - any opinions?

    Hello guys,
I am currently researching a grouping with a Wehrpass and some documents. This pass photo is on a Scherkriegsbeschädigtenausweis from march 1945. The man was in the Heer but lost his leg on the Eastern Front in 1943 and was released from service. He is still wearing a uniform though, any guesses on which branch this is? It's a leather jacket with dark shoulder insignia. He is also still wearing some of his awards: an IAB miniature, and ribbons for the EK2 and Ostmedaille. There is also another badge scratsched off, probably the NSDAP badge as he was a member of the party since 1933.

    Thanks for your help.

As a sidenote, this is the same man about 4 years earlier. The Eastern Front sure was hell.

It looks like a civilian motorcycle jacket. The collar, piping and the braided shoulder pieces are common for that type of jacket. The tie is civilian as well (it is the same tie as in the bottom picture).

BTW - miniature pins of awards were not allowed to be worn on regular uniforms - only on civilian clothing

      Regards, Hardy

Okay Hardy, thanks! I have mistaken this for a uniform because of the shoulder boards. He did have a motorcycle so you must be right
