    Award citations to a member of I/JG77 - IV/JG51

    Hello all,
I would like to share these documents with you awarded to a ground crewman who served in I/JG77. This unit became IV/JG51 in November 1940.

Becker served with 3/JG77 and was awarded the 1st October 1938 medal while with this unit. I believe this document is signed by Hauptmann Johannes Janke, the Gruppenkommadeur of I/JG77 at this time.

Becker then was transferred with the whole of I/JG77 to IV/JG51 in November 1940.

Becker was awarded the War Merit Cross with swords in March 1942. This document has a fascimile signature of von Richthofen.

In June 1942 Becker was promoted from an Unteroffizier to Feldwebel while serving with 12/JG51. My best guess at the signature would be Hans Knauth but this is entirely conjecture. Any ideas or confirmation would be gratefully received.

In August 1942 Becker was awarded the Eastern Front medal while again with 12/JG51. I beleive this is signed by Wilhelm Moritz. I have compared it with a post-war signature of Moritz that I have. However, I do not believe Moritz joined 12/JG51 until October 1942 so I am a bit confused here. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Finally, there is an 'aircraft technical' document awarded to Becker in December 1942. What happened to him after this, I do not know...............

I have just received these documents from Marc B and I would like to thank him for his help in obtaining these.

Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Andy

              Hi Andy,

              Janke is correct.

              Hauptmann Johannes Janke, Gruppenkommandeur I./JG.77 : 1.5.1939 - 21.11.1940.

I have no JG.77 books myself, but maybe you can answer your question on:
