    Arnhem wounded German soldier

A book I got a couple of years ago owned by a German soldier, stationed at Amsterdam and wounded during the Battle and was brought to Apeldoorn hospital:

Thanks for that info Ian, I know that some troops from Twente were sent to Arnhem, I will put it up for sale, so the info about the Fp number will be helpful then, thanks again

Throughout the last link I see the last post of this unit was in Steenwijk, then they probably where stationed on or near the airbase at Havelte. Philip, how do you know that the former owner of this book was wounded during the battle of Arnhem and not in the weeks, moths or years before and then hospitalised in Apeldoorn?.

Are you sure it's a "he"? The back of the image says Karin something. Fliegerhorstkommandanturen had some female personnel, especially in the "safe" countries in the occupied West. The handwriting is very definitely female.

I got if from a German veteran (luftwaffe) (with 2 photoalbums)who lived just across the Border in Kleve, who said he got it from this guy when his visited him in Apeldoorn shortly after the battle, they came from the same village, this veteran (Kleve)went to 7 Fallschirmjager Regiment just after Arnhem, and spent some time in oosterbeek (westerbouwing ) after the evacuation.

I have read something about a Steenwijkunit and shall see if I can find it again

No doubt, Philip R., no doubt, but it seems that the book originally belong to a Lw.-Helferin assigned to FpN L 49025. She must have given it to the guy in Apeldoorn or he found it somewhere before passing it on to the veteran in Kleve.

Well it seems like it, a pitty Eric died a couple of years ago, our else I could have asked him again about it, he was made POW later in the war and taken to a POW camp in england where he later married a local girl, as he had to do labour work on a farm and married one of the daughter

I must agree with mister de Zeng on this not that I question your honesty Philip but unfortunately the story is to much dependent on coincidences and in that way its unfortunately never verifiable that this book actually belonged to a wounded Arnhem veteran, I’m sorry.
