Help with pic of Pz IV of PR 8 in mid 1941

Dear colleagues

I am currently researching the markings of Pz IV from Pz Regt 8 during 1941. On arrival in the Middle East , the medium Kp's of PR 8 were numbered 3 and 7. Circa September 1941, a fouth Kp was formed in Germany for each battalion and the existing medium Kp were ordered to be renumbered as 4 and 8 Kp respectively.

Can anyone assist me with any pics showing Pz IV markings displaying either 3 or 7 KP?

Shane, Are you sure about the company numbers ? The Pz IV in PR 8 were in 4 and 8 companies with the 3 and 7 companies having Pz II and III and joined the regiment later in 1941. Here is a link to the DAK forum where you might find something to help in your quest. Alan

I agree this is a funny one. All the pics I have seen are as you describe.

GHQ Daily Intelligence Summary dated 14 March 1942 state:

The daily orders of 8 tank regiment show that the numbering of squadrons on arrival in Africa ran as follows: 1, 2, 3 Squadrons; 5, 6, 7 Squadrons. This numbering was retained until 7 September 1941 when the following order appears:

"With effect from to-day 3 Squadron will be called 4 Squadron, and 7 Squadron, 8 Squadron."

Curious as to anyones thoughts about this.
