                      I would advise anyone interested in these medals to buy the following book: "Pannwitz Cossaks" by Francois de Lannoy. It is full of photos (such as the ones above). Unfortunately, even under magnification, I cannot work out the presence or otherwise of the "ropes".

                            The tank sleeve patch (PzkwIII) is the unit insignia of Cossack Grenadier Reg.360.
