Hi Larry, I think that every single person in Germany will know Beate Uhse and her shops, but I had no idea that she had been a pilot during the war ... Cheers, Torsten.

Hi Torsten -

For me, the surprise was the other way. I had no idea she did what she did after the war! And I lived in Germany 1958-59 and then again 1963-66. Perhaps she was just starting out back then, or maybe her shops were all up in the northern part of Germany. Anyway, I don't believe I ever saw one of her shops or heard her name.
