Outrageous! You would think that these swine had better things to do with taxpayers' money than pursusing their personal, rabid political agendas and going about the place digging up dead air aces whose only failing was to have been on the losing side. This latest move clearly relates to Austrian attempts to perpetuate this myth that they were all victims of National Socialism, occupied by a foreign army, and that Austrians who served the Reich were traitors to Austria. Perhaps an Austrian patriot with millions in the bank could disinter Novotny and reinter him on private land with a fitting memorial. Or would the authorities refuse a permitand planning permission for this? It is high time that we Europeans took some direct action to remind politicians that they are there to serve us, not themselves.

              Hello to anyone
there is something news in the Novotnycase which I wanted to let you know .
The goverment takes him the Honorgrave to make it a normal grave .This means that the city no longer take care of his gravesite .But they won`t take him out......... So I think this is
a little victory to anyone who sends a mail .

They also wrote that there are many many protestmail enclosed
              from Australia !

I like to say thank you to anyone who takes the time to wrote a little note to them .Thank you !

Here's what I sent them. It was sent from my professional e-address and the signature included my office address. Let's see some of the other notes.

Please excuse my lack of German. While I read German well, I cannot write in your language.

The Nazi regime was evil, as we all know, and the young Novotny was a member of the NSDAP. While I do not excuse this, you must remember that he was very young and was in the most ‘Nazi’ of the three branches of the Luftwaffe. It was almost obligatory to be a member of the party in order to achieve promotion. By the end, Novotny was no Nazi. But he was a brave young man who served his fatherland in time of war. I know that the invasion and occupation of Austria in 1938 and the consequent events are traumatic memories for most Austrians but it seems very mean and small-minded to think of exhuming a war hero who died thinking he was doing the right thing. Now that you have received many letters of protest, you plan not to exhume him but to degrade his grave, removing its honour status. Do the people involved with “Fall Novotny” really have nothing better to do with taxpayers’ money than spending time refighting old battles that took place before they were even born. There are new and very serious battles to be fought in Europe, with people like Silvio Berlusconi, Tony Blair, Jean-Marie Le Pen and, of course, your own Jorg Haider. And then we have the threat from the Bush Junta. So, please, leave Major Novotny and his grave alone and face the battles of today, not yesterday.

                  G'day,

                  I sent a short, very short note.G'day ,

This is an email to protest at the supposed removal of Novotny's grave. I'm a person who is Apolitical and has no Nazi sympathies, but I'm distressed as to why a soldier's grave should be moved.

I also protested when the French government wanted to build an airport through the Commonwealth war cemetery. I feel that the resting place of all soldiers are sacred.

                  Respectfully

                      Hello ,
there is what I know only his brother alive ,and he is very old .
And of cource he has no chance to do anything because the goverment has to declare "Honorgrave" or not .
Just the last year the Novotny Comeradeship ends their exist .
This also because they are too old ,unfortunaltley .
At least only a mass of protestmails bring this finish .
And the latest news is that the Assossiation of paratroopers in Austria ,where the last members of the Novotny comradship found a new home ,will take care about the Novotnygraveside.
And thats good news ,for sure :-)
                      Best to you all
                      Uli
