    Question About Photo Inscription

Does this inscription appear to be period? The reason I ask is because the photo does not show Model, nor any other General from the 9 Panzer Division. The photo does appear to be original.

    Thank you,

    Mark

Yes, but I am pretty sure that this is not Model. Perhaps the inscription was added later, the person writing the inscription had "not remembered well"...etc.

Model was Cheif of Staff for the 16th Army and commander of the 3rd Pz. Division in 1940. Neither command would have been involved with the 9th Panzer Div.

This General does not resemble Model IMO or any other commander of the 9th PD. Perhaps I am wrong, that is why I am asking. Thank you for the reply.

Is the photo part of an album or an individual one?

From a graphologic point of view the inscription has nothing to do with Kurrentschrift, i. e. it is written in an antiqua handwriting, which could be indicative of a post war inscription.

In my opinion the inscription was added sometime after the war...

Polynike, it is not part of an album or group of photos.

GK, I think I agree. The "9" looks like it is written different in the "1940" and the "9 Panzer Division".

I wonder if it is an attempt to increase the value of the photo.

              How about this inscription?

Perhaps there should be a regular thread just for inscriptions? Moderator?

              Thank You,
