New grouping - help w/signatures please

    Hi all,
Latest to come in, small group to a Sanitaetsobergefreiten. As my research skills are known as "Pitiful" (if it's not in LdW or Feldgrau, I'm usually lost...), any info on the signatures and units would be greatly appreciated.

The first image is his post-war service urkunde. I've seen these on eBay before, and they're much more impressive in hand than the pictures on the net project.

    best, and thanks in advance,
    Hank

The docs and medals. The KVK is unmarked; the EK2 is a 13 (Brehmer, I believe?). Both in excellent condition, as well as a length of unused ribbon.

The KVK doc. A nice version, unfortunately somewhat worse for wear; but, we've all seen worse, so no biggie.

EK2 doc; as mentioned before, if anybody could give further info on units / signers, much appreciated.

Red Cross ID card; although his Service Time urkunde mentions being wounded twice, the urkunde(n) or badge for wounds are not there.

The signature on the KVK doc could be (Max) Lindig

The EK2 doc signature could be (Dietrich) "von Saucken".

Looks like the EK2 doc might be signed by the famous Gen.Lt. Dietrich von Saucken, who was commanding 4.Pz.Div. in September 1943... you just need to find out if Jäger-Bataillon 8 was subordinated to the division at that time.

Gerdan, jmark, thanks very much; a brief search of the net turned up another EK2 doc with v. Sauckens signature (on MFF, if curious) and it's a match!

                    thanks again,
                    Hank

It would seem he served in Norway during the invasion. Drag is mentioned though the date of 9.4.40 is a little off in regards when German troops reached that area but it would indicate him serving with the 2 Geb.Div. at that time. It looks like he was an Austrian too and that ties in with the other units seen here.

That's interesting; just perusing it quickly, I thought it was "Prag".

                        thanks Simon!

It is Prag, as if you look at the spelling for Polen, you will be able to compare the two Ps in the two different names.

I really like that certificate! how much is a grouping like this worth?

oops, you're quite right Rolf. I saw the date and Drag is a place in North Norway where the 2 GD were in 1940. Also, a good proportion of those sent to form the Jäger batallione came from GJ units as they were ski units and thus required ski trained soldiers.
