Interesting.........the stamp is a Feldpost number and appears to be L = Luftwaffe.

Can you post a larger image of the FP Nr. stamp?

If the Oberst was FJ would he have used a 'L' FPN stamp? Very late war awards so was this unit an adhoc formation made up of different arms of service thrown together?

Not sure how the FP Nr. fits into it at the moment or the other units that Genert belonged to, however Oberst Walter Gericke was in command of 21 Fallschirmjäger Division.

Kampfgruppe and various units would be under it. From what I have it was formed as a Feld Ausbildung Division from numerous Ersatz and Ausdbildung units.

Larry no doubt will have more!

                    /Ian

Could the Lt in question have thus been in one of these ersatz units? Notice his rank Lt.z.Sd.R.

That just means he is a Reserve officer......his units could well be named after the location and the Commander.

Norden was a Kriegsmarine base, so it stands to reason to have an Alarm unit there when the enemy got close!

Birk, could well have been the Bataillon commander of the unit.....
