It is a thing everyone has to jugde for his self, i personaly only buy signed Hoffmann cards when they made their way as fieldpost. Too many faked signed Hoffmanns and Sanke Postcards are on the market...

Sorry Max but I have to disagree with you there. Can't speak for Sanke cards as I don't collect them and have no interest in WW1 aviation but Hoffmanns, Verlags and Rohrs are a different matter. In all my time collecting I have seen only 1 potential fake of anything other than Wick as a subject. That was a Marseille - see the 1st link below. Other than that, the ink and signature and silvering/age tone of the cards are virtually impossible if not completely impossible to re-produce. The wartime signed postcards are extremely consistent and whilst the signatures are very similar no two are completely identical (see the two Beisswenger examples) . The exception to this is Marseille who's autograph is almost always the same and very very difficult to copy. Below a suspected copy whilst the second is an original (the one with his Rank). It is not unusual for him to sign "Jochen" and this part of the autograph is fine. However the surname part of the signature has inconsistencies in the "M" which has an extra loop at the start and the "S" which is concave rather than convex and also doesn't flow from the "r". There is a break in fact with the "S" starting below the flow of the "r". There are a couple of possible explainations...particularly as "Jochen" is almost perfect...he could have stopped to talk to the recipient "mid flow" whilst signing..then continued. He could have been on a train or plane in transit - or of course it could be a fake. It is dated Afrika 1st Aug 1942 on the reverse...Marseille was in Berlin on leave to receive the Swords at that time. However, the handwriting is consistent to Marseille's for Afrika 1.9.42 on the reverse. What is more, the ink looks old and has the correct colour and sheen. My own feeling is that this was signed by someone else, possibly a colleague in his squadron after his death...the dated element on the reverse is typical Marseille...and was probably already there having been dated by him personally on a previous ocassion. It is believed that colleagues of Wick signed Hoffmanns on his behalf - answering his post after he went missing basically. The Wick in question here may well be one of these, but Wick's autograph is much easier to sign. Other than that, fakes if they exist at all are poor and would be very very easy to spot...This is one of the main reasons I gave up collecting Badges and medals some toime ago...even Helamets are a knightmare...but Hoffmanns etc. This is an area I am VERY VERY comfortable with!!! Steve.

      and the "real" Marseille autograph

But the Beisswenger autographs....note how close they are:

      and the other:

NEARLY ALL are impossible to Fake...Sanke???Who knows....

OK. Where is your evidence? Show me an example of a fake war signed Hoffmann. I agree ther are post war signed photos that are fake, but I wouldn't touch a Post War autograph. Prove what you are saying? Steve

Look Nic, Don't take offence.... I'm not using any imperitive undertones at all....this is a forum? Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect your opinion....I am genuinely intrigued..I have no doubt that fake Hitler/Himmler autographs exist, but generally they are simplistic copies designed to fool the desperate...What evidence do you have of copies of Luftwaffe Aces? Their autographs are not as easy to copy as that Moron Hitler...for example:

Don't be offended....I genuinely value your opinion...it's why I joined this forum?
