    Feldpost officer group

    Hi,
Here's a couple of pictures and a shoulder board from the family of the officer in the pictures ,the pictures are copies the son in law has the originals but gave me the shoulder board? as he did not think the family would want it,must contact him about the original pics.
The brief history is interesting in a number of respects and my help some one ,his son was also interestig.
His name was Franz Josef Falmhaupt,
D.O.B. 23-11 1899 in St Peter near Graz Austria Luid,,,, Ne6.
He was in the Austrian army pre war and was imprisoned in approx 1935 for being a member of the nazi party[Austrian i assume]
He was a POW in Russia from 1945-1949.
He had a son and a Daughter.
The son had the same name as his father and was a German paratrooper having fought in crete and Dvar he was also imprisoned by the Russians but escaped to return home to Graz in 1947.
It was here that he first met the man who gave me these items
    a british paratrooper.
On entering his family home which was know occupied by his sister and her british boyfriend the young Franz went berserk and told the british soldier to leave ,when he rose to put on his Bd he saw his para wing's and then extended his hand in addmeration to a fellow para they became good friends always arguing who were the best para's
i have a date of death but i am not sure who it relate's too as the father also lived into old age it is if i remember correctly the old mans d.o.d 16 -11-1979 any info on the pictures medals etc i would be happy to know,i also have a copy of his sisters pass book.
    All the best Merdock

Interesting that his collar tabs in none of the photos are the 3-sides of Beamten Waffenfarbe type, but look like "normal" officer patterns. Must be dark green inside the bars, but no sign of the lemon yellow edging... which clearly shows on the shoulder boards!

            Hi,
I have no idea when the pictures were taken ,is his rank below the board rank in the pics or above ,when was the time frame for these boards as i never seen another, pherhaps they used normal army ones in the field with cifers on.
Any ideas as to the medal bar.
            All the best Merdock

Hello again...I've been wondering if you were ever able to contact Falmhaupt's son or if I could have his email address? I have found a Falmhaupt coat of arms (Austrian) which perhaps he would like to have??

                It's Postman Franz

In the photo he's a Feldpostsekretär and your tab is a Feldoberpostsekretär
