    KM grouping for review

    Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get a few opinions about these docs. The EK2 doc is about 5 x 8 inches, with the Minesweeper doc being just slightly larger. Both are to the same KM sailor, which makes them desirable to me.

One question I do have is this... was it normal for the Minesweeper to be undated on the lower left hand corner where the stamp is? Has anyone seen this before? I'm just edging into KM docs so this award doc is a little new to me.

Hi John, from what I can see, they look like 2 nice docs. A missing date is not common, but not unheard of either. You'll see a lot of these "1940" documents also with later dates, 1941 & 1942 in the lower left.

Some closeups of the signatures & stamps to confirm them wouldn't be a bad idea, if possible. But overall, I think they look okay.

Hank, here's another pic. Any idea of who signed it?

For safety's sake can someone look up the Fp nr. It should work out as being a ship or flotilla that saw service during the Norwegian invasion of April-june 1940 and was then moved to France later in the year.

The EKII is consistent with a sailor involved in the Norwegian invasion.

At the time of issuance, M 13 119 was Führer d.Minensuch-Flott.West (F.d.M.West) which then became 1.Führer d.Minensuchverbände West in summer 1940 and then Führer d.Minensuchverbände West in fall 1940. The FpN was deleted (gestrichen) in spring 1941.

So this confirms that the group was in the right time and place, and the doc is ok Larry? Sorry to be a kook, but as I said... KM docs are a new venture for me and I'm still learning.

              Hi John,

The FpN checks against the signature block, but someone else will have to confirm the service of the units mentioned. My references on the KM are next to laughable. Maybe Simon or someone can confirm that for you.
