Photos taken after final capitulation on the Mierzeje Wislana ( Friesche Nehrung ) in May 1945 ( if rember correctly german units fought on Mierzeja Wislana till 11 or 12 of May ). Very nice photos. Till the end on Mirzeja were fighting and captured something about 50-60 000 soldier ( many from destroyed FHH, GD and WSS units ).

Great pictures! I've been in that part of the baltic coast and I always wondered how it really looked back in those final days of WW2.
Just to add something to the discussion, a russian propaganda leaflet with a pic of 'happy and weel fed' german prisoners, including an SS.

The dead ss man at the top of the pic. with the helmet on his face...........I have seen a close up of this dead ss man and he is wearing a dd ss helmet that has been blown almost completly in half with all the gore from his head under his body. The other pics. of the same photo show the Russians having the captured ss men picking up the dead and putting them in one big ditch.

I first saw this one in the old McLachlen Associates SS book in the 1960s. It is similar to the above pic, and shows that the Soviets were keen to use pics of KIA SS men to demonstrate that "Hitler's Elite" were not infallible:

Sepp, great picture of Lainer (which I had never seen before), however, the thread is for pics of SS men in Soviet captivity--Lainer is in US captivity, as are the SS men pictured with the Direlwanger NCO.

Karl Pfeffer-Wildenbruch shortly after having surrendered to the Soviets after the battle for Budapest.
Note that he is wearing an EM/NCO overseas cap, and his shoulderboards are missing:
