Here are some Pioneer images photographed in and around Norway.
The first shows a rather portly and aged Pioneer officer. The black waffenfarbe of that branch can be seen on his Schirmmütze.
The second image shows a pioneer section in bivouac. Again, the Schirmmütze of the NCO in the center is accented with black waffenfarbe.
I don't know what the significance of the cowboy silhouette is unless they're having quick draw practice with their lugers!
A pioneer soldier doing his best to imitate Groucho Marx!
A pioneer site somewhere in a northern Norwegian forest.
Chow time at the same pioneer site.
Der Spieß of the pioneer unit checking in on one of his troops.
This is a rather rare pioneer image. It shows a Heer senior NCO on the right wearing a rather uncommon specialist badge denoting his postion as a Festungspionierfeldwebel or fortress engineer sergeant-major. Behind him can be seen an officer and enlisted men of a Marine-Festungspionier unit.
