Regarding Pioniere, there two extremely nice photo documentation are available: "Deutsche Pioniere 1939-1945 Eine Dokumentation in Bildern" (Zentralarchiv der Pioniere, Kurt Vowinckel Verlag) and "Deutsche Pioniere im Einsatz 1935-194 Eine Chronik in Bildern" (Horst Riebenstahl, Podzun-Pallas Verlag, English translation available from Schiffer) Both are must-haves in my opinion.

Some photos from an album made by 2. / Eisenbahnpionier-Regiment 1 to record its achievement during the Westfeldzug.

Is this book that you have a wartime book? Those look like original (or maybe soon after post-war) shots with some old looking descriptions.
