    Type tunic

Hello can someone tell me what type uniform this LAH rottenfuhrer is wearing.
The medals are EK2 and BWB and could the third be a GAB?
Would the footwear indicate a late war picture?

Judging by the apparent thickness of the sole of his left boot (toe region) I would suggest they are a pair of mountaineer cleated GJ boots? (Cleats not visible though) Although it would be an odd combination for someone wearing an SS tunic. If so, the period would be rather hard to determine.

The tunic? My knowledge of SS is limited, but I would say a mid to late war SS pattern of the Wehrmacht model 43, in slate grey wool, with patch pockets but pointed flaps and a six button front. Possibly shortened at the hem.

        the paper

        Hi,

This might not be possible, but the exact period of the photo may be in the soldiers hands. Do a very close scan on the paper he is holding, and flip it 180 degrees, it may come up with something.

        Cheers
        Steve
