    Hermann Hogeback's crew

    Hi,

I read that the whole of Hermann Hogebacks bomber crew were awarded the RK, can anyone give me any information on this? as to who the other RKT's were etc, as I can't find any info on the net. I would like to get as much info together as I can.

    Cheers

    Kampffleiger RKT

Hi Phil, yes it is correct, Hermann Hogeback's bomber crew were all RKT. Some breif details are as follows:

    Hermann Hogeback
RK 08-09-1941 as Oberleutnant and Staffelkapitan 9.(K)/L.G.1
EL (Nr 192) 19-02-1943 as Hauptmann and Kommandeur III./Lehr-Geschwader 1.
    S (Nr125) 26-01-1945 as Oberstleutnant and Kommodore K.G.6

    Wilhelm Dipberger - Beobachter (Observer)
    RK 09-01-1945 as Fahnenjunker-Oberfeldwebel Stab./K.G.6

Willy Lehnert - Bordfunker (radio operator)
    RK 05-04-1944 as Oberfeldwebel Stab./K.G.6

    Gunter Glasner - Bordschutz (gunner)
    RK 31-12-1943 as Oberfeldwebel Stab./K.G.6.

I hope to of been of some use.
    Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

Thanks Richard that helps a lot, as I'm going to try to write to the three of them if thats possible.

Here's a famous picture of the mighty four, this is one of my favourite Third Reich photo's as it shows lots of medals being worn (it's been published many a time).

        Cheers
        Phil

                    Hogeback...

                    Hi Phil,
The last time that I had any contact with this crew only two of them were still alive. This was early eighties and Hogeback and Dipberger were still alive. I believe, if memory serves me, this was the only crew in the Luftwaffe where all members were Knights Cross winners. Hope this is of some help.
                    Regards,
                    Dick

                        Hi Mark,

The RKT is defiantly not Dipberger as he did not receive the RK until 09.01.1945 and his last rank was that of Fahnenjunker-Oberfeldwebel. The other RKT in the photo would have had to have won his RK before 31.12.1943 and he also appears to be a Leutnant as well.

Unfortunately I do not recognize him, it might be worth you putting the photo on here for an id. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=29879
