    Himmler Signature

Here is a Himmler enscribed book for a SS doctor's birthday gift. The Dr. was an Alt-Kampher who had been in the same Oberland Freikorps as Himmler. The book is written by SS Ahenerbe scientist and world class mountain climber Ernst Schafer.

                  signature

I dont about the one you show Napalm, but I like mine very much, to me it looked good when compared to an authentic signature. Since then I have had it authenticated by an authority in the field, but....have never shown it on this forum till now. Schafer was appointed the leader of an Ahnenerbe expedition to Tibet and the Gobi desert by Himmler. He also had to meet with Wiligut/Weisthor per Himmler's instructions and they talked about Tibetan lamas telepathic abilities. You cant make this stuff up!

                      SS pith helmets

Yes I have seen the footage of the expedition with the SS pith helmets and SS pennants/small "flags" . There are two very good books in English(the definitive book is still only in German by prof. Kater. "Das Ahnenerbe" even though the Prof is Canadian!)out on this- The best one on the Ahnenerbe in general-but lots on Schaffer is Pringle, Heather. "THE MASTER PLAN" and the other just on the tibet expedition is Hale, Christopher "Himmler's Crusade."

                          Michael,

A very nice item with the intact dust jacket, better still with the inscription. Do you have more info on Dr. Balz and his activities?

If not too much to ask, can you post more of your collecion when you get the chance?

                          Thanks, Mike

Thanks for that! I have to admit it gladdens the heart to hear you like it.
Funny thing is I did not find this via any militaria source. Rather, I found it through my dogged book hunting abilities in the book world. Needless to say, it took some courage to acquire it from a no-name , no-nothing (as to provenance) source who was the book seller. Oh yes, he believed the Himmler signature to be real... but so what! I did some study of the pix and totally was flabergasted at how beautifully perfect the book itself was as to a kind of book Himmler would actually give out as one of his famous bookgifts on birthdays and special occasions. While at the same time, being a rather unknown esoteric and "sleeper" book to the standard militaria collector. The author's SS credentials are not mentioned and the publisher had no obvious connection to the SS or the NSDAP, even. Paul Parey Verlag was a "national geographic" type publisher with adventurous expedition type books. It turns out, that Himmler was so pleased with this SS Ahnenerbe expedition that he wanted the information disseminated to the general public with out the connection to the SS as even then, some people and historians understood how Science and history can be twisted for propaganda purposes. It appears that Himmler directed the most obvious and overt perversions of history to be only be printed within a SS publisher like Ahnenerbe, or especially Nordland Verlag( even more obvious propaganda may have been Nibelungen Verlag-who may have been a covert SS publisher) whilst if it was more subtle it could go out in a more public publisher.
It has to pointed out though, that in some way, No book publisher in existence under the rule of the NSDAP was really an impartial neutral entity-but the impression was better, of course.
