Hi,
I'd like to present one of my newest acquisitions here. The unit is part of one of the divisions I favore most (30. Infanterie-Division), so this award document immediately drawed my attention. The best part is that the document is signed by Oberstleutnant Helmut Michalik. After leading Panzerjäger-Abteilung 30 through Belgium, he took command of a motorized regiment (I think Schützen-Regiment 140) and ended up with 27. Panzer-Division. After leaving the division after only two months, and being assigned to Army Group North afterwards, he was killed in an accident on June 7, 1944.
Does anyone know what happened or how he died? He was posthumously entitled as Generalmajor. I don't think there is much information or photo material available regarding this man.
Cheers,
Laurens
