Strange book "Mein Kampf" brown cover

Hi all,

I just got this "Mein Kampf" book. I have never seen one with that cover. I bought it out of the bookcase of an old lady so I think it is not messed around with the book.
What do you think about it ?

Is this issue covered in leather, or artificial brown leather?

I have seen this issue some years ago at a Militaria Boerse in Germany, the seller stated, this issue was printed for a public library, Volksbuecherei, it was the same edition from the year 1938, like yours.

just to mention this, my mother Ingrid owned several bookshops here in Northern Germany, even in the early 1970s we sold original copies of Mein Kampf.

Hitlers defamatory pamphlet stood next to the red Mao-Bible, in our section "Political Books".

If I remember this accurate, the sale price back then, was 35,- German Marks.

Books are my passion, I own several books, printed in Schweden, published by the RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion) in the 1970s, very very rare material.

My relative, Herr Knut Folkerts, was/is a very well known member in the german RAF, condemned to lifelong prison.

After the year 2003, my grandmother passed away at the age of 89 years, I have no contact to the Folkerts family anymore, neither to Mr. Knut Folkerts.

Grandmother Alberta was a born "Folkerts", 1914-2003, Knut Folkerts father, Herr Rudi Folkerts, he was a very close relative, and a close friend to my grandmother.

Rudi Folkerts passed away years ago, I remember Rudi very well, the old man broke in pieces, about his son Knut.

It was very very sad, to see the old pal cry, I visit his final rest each year, to think about all this, and to lay down a red rose, for Rudi.

I remember one sentence from Rudi Folkerts, talking about his son Knut Folkerts, the RAF terrorist: "Berta, ich hätte diesen Sohn niemals zeugen dürfen!", stating this, the old man cried...

The book appears to have been recovered at some point in it's life. Possibly by the library in which it resided.
