    Panzer School Portrait?

Heres a new photo i got in the post today. There is a S on the shoulder board, however is this for school or rifles? It looks like there is another number underneath..so presume a regiment number....so rifles?

Whats everyone elses thoughts? There are some nice badges to.

Very Nice Portrait......S indeed stands for the Panzerschule (Armor School). Here is a photo out of the book "Panzertruppe" by Ewe Feist and Thomas McGuirl. Thanks for sharing - Bill

          Schützen-Regimenter

          Hello, LDR!
The "S" can stand for both school (Schule) and Rifle Regiment (Schützen-Regiment).
In the case of the photo you started this thread with, it is for a soldier in one of the Schützen-Regimenter, which were the precursors to the Panzergrenadier-Regimenter. The giveaway is normally the numeral under the "S", since schools were not numbered.
The photo caption from Feist and McGuirl's book is wrong. The uniform tunic shown is clearly for Schützen-Regiment 14 of the 5. Panzer-Division.
          Regards,

            Bob,
thanks for the information. As i said in my first post i thought the numeral under the 'S' meant rifles rather than school, but i wasnt 100% positive.
Thanks for the info. Hope you all like the pic as much as i do!

Thanks for the clarification....mistakes are made and the right information comes out and that is what this forum is all about. Bill
