    Help ID 2 RK holders

    Hi Guys,
    Appreciate if anyone can help ID the 2 RK holders, one with oakes leaves!


    I acquired this picture along with other photos of U181 pictures from one of our sponsors.

    ELT on right would be Hans Wolfgang Lueth, Kmdr of U181.

              Gentlemen,
              both famous commanders,Left is Werner Hartenstein (u156)
              and the other is Engelbert Endrass (u 567)

                Wow! thanks for these IDs and even the sub numbers

                I found some infor on these 2 Sub commanders, sad to read both went down in their "Iron Coffins"
                this photo was probably the last photo of the 2 commanders together.

                  U-156 left Lorient under the command of Werner Hartenstein on 20th Aug 1942 and returned twelve and a half weeks later to Lorient on 16th Nov 1942.
                  Werner Hartenstein hit three ships on this patrol, one was from convoy SL-119.
                  • On 27th Aug 1942 he sank the British 5,941 ton Clan Macwhirter, a member of convoy SL-119.
                  • On 12th Sep 1942 he sank the British 19,695 ton Laconia.
                  • On 19th Sep 1942 he sank the British 4,745 ton Quebec City.

                      I think herbert and Elwyn is right.
                      It is one of the well known series of photos taken in St. Nazaire, July 1941.
