Guys:
Please help! recently a photograph of my wafes uncle somehow showed up on Craig Gottliebs site. It was sold before we saw the photo. We are adking that if the buyer or someone who knows the buyer sees this they will allow us to purchase the photo (at ful cost) back & reunite it with our family!!!!! PM me for private contact info if you have any questions!!!!! Please see pictures below!
Please note:
This DOES NOT imply that the picture was sold or bought with any ill means. This photo disappeared when my wifes grandmother home was sold in the early 70s.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!Attached Files

If you approach the matter in a nice way (i.e. make it clear that the photo was sold as part of the house and contents, years ago - certianly not that it just "dissapeared"), I suspect that Craig will be willing to advise the buyer of your situation and let the matter develop from there. Given your strong interest in the photo, hopefully the buyer will be willing to step forward, engage you, and structure some sort of deal.
If it were me, I would offer the buyer a handsome profit on the photo, to show goodwill and as an inducement to persuade him to sell or trade. Remember - the buyer is currently the happy new owner of this nice photo, so he is going to want to be able to replace it with something comparable and/or with another nice addition to his collection.
Good luck and please keep us posted as to how the matter plays out.
BTW: Do you have any items from this SS soldier's military service?

Guys :
Please rest assured Craig has been 100% helpful in all this. This is not a case of me being wronged or the photo being aquired by less than honest means!!!!!!!!!We didnt even realize this photo was out there until it had already been sold.So far the neew owner does not want to part with the photo BUT has offered a 8x10 professional copy which is very honorable of him.If the new owner sees this forum I have one last offer for trhe original! I will trade 4 pics we have extra of her uncle emil along with whatever cash the owner thinks fair...if you see this please contact me at : odinsohn@aol.com
ONCE AGAIN I MUST SAY THIS IS NOT ABOUT ANY WRONG DOING!!!!! THE NEW OWNER IS THE RIGHTFUL OWNER OF THE PHOTO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Below is one of the photos Im willing to give up)Attached Files

4 for 1....sounds like a no brainer to me. but sometimes people look at it as "wow, they really want this...ok, I won't give it then". Just human nature I guess. I believe the saying is to cut off the nose to spite the face.
But let's be honest, the photo itself has no great special merit beyond the size and tab. But in the overall scheme 4 for 1 is silly to pass up.
I hate seeing groups broken up and when I see the opportunity for a reunion it gladens the heart. Best of luck to you and of course the owner of the single photo as he's caught in a situation he did not intend to be.

I'm going to guess you didn't read everything, it's from his family...that would seem to make it "special" if it was from my family.

Hank...I did read the thread. I meant to say that the photo I don't believe has anything that special (beyond size and tab) that would merit anyone wanting it that badly (ie, the person currently possessing it). Obviously, I do understand that it should belong with the family grouping.
If the photo showed some rare badges or insignia or person, I could see the desireability...but really, SS portraits are not that uncommon. Makes no sense to keep it away from the family and grouping.
