He's not in Scheibert's list of ehrenpokal holders

When I first looked at the EK2 document here, I didn't like the signature and the Dienstsiegel. They just look unprofessionally applied.

When I saw it was possibly a missing part of a Konvolut, I thought better of the EK2. BUt when I try to enlarge the other docs, the signature part is usually cut off in the picture. Without seeing those closer, it is hard to make an opinion. I also don't understand why at least one of them is on shiny paper.

This could be a case where someone has fabricated a whole set or added pieces to a valid set. Both things do happen. But I hate to urinate on someone else's documents without having a better look.

When you click on one of the documents and it comes up in a new window you should see 100% along the bottom righhand edge of the box. If you change it to 75% or even enlarge it to 125% it should bring up a scroll bar enabling you to scroll down and see the sigs.

I just don't know about this to be honest. I take it this EKII isn't being sold by the same guy that's selling the rest of the docs?

            Interesting!!
I had the ek2 doc and everything lokked fine to me and other friends who cllected 3rd Reich militaria.
None the less this is an interesting find I m not quite sure what award this doc is for but i take it its something quite high.
Until we can get to the bottom of this heres a pic of the signature on the ek doc.

AHHHH, just clicked, Honour goblet, a friend of mine has an award doc for one of these and the one on this auction site is no where near even the look of the original. plus its suspect that the photo has cut the signature and the eagle stamping off.
              Just my opinion.

Hi hollew sorry i wasnt needlessly slagging off the EK2 doc, Its miles better quality than the others that are for sale, What worried me is that there are other documents to the same guy for sale that are repro,if there is one set im wondering how many there are and if someone has succesfully produced one on correct paper
                Cheers

I'm torn about these. The variety of signatures, inks, and stamps is pretty sophisticated for a fake - makes me re-think that at most of them are real. The shiny paper could be from a lamination?

Well this seems to be getting more interesting by the minute,, Simon do you know how complete Scheibert's list of ehrenpokal holders is? Is there a chance this guy did win the ehrenpokal?
Thanks for all the help over this one guys

As a general rule, every award list is incomplete or inaccurate. The trouble is when you are relying on that kind of error to support your purchase of a document, then you are sailing in uncharted waters. You can never feel comfortable about that.

As an example of incomplete awards records - as a First Sergeant, one time I cut corners a bit by doing up an award certificate for a retiring soldier. The company commander wanted to send the guy out with a medal. The commander signed the certificate, we did the ceremony, and waved goodbye to the soldier. Trouble is, that I am fairly certain that the award was never processed through the higher headquarters by the time I left the unit. It wasn't a major award and I doubt the illegitimacy ever affected the retiree, but still he has a valid-looking certificate for an award that the Army would never recognize - and that was done in peacetime - never mind all the wackiness that occurs in wartime.
