Unit symbol?

In this photo it is visible, what that a flag. Similar, that it is a symbol of any unit. Your opinion?

By the looks of it i'd say it was French and those guys in between the two Germans are French POWs.

Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
